Terrorism is a direct threat to the security of citizens of NATO member states, but also to the global security and prosperity, say attendees of the Advance Research Workshop, dubbed ‘Defence against Terrorism, Enhancing Resilience of Democratic Institutions and Rule of Law’, which kicked off Wednesday in Skopje under the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme. SPS promotes dialogue and practical cooperation between NATO member states and partner nations based on scientific research, technological innovation and knowledge exchange. It offers funding, expert advice and support to tailor-made, security-relevant activities that respond to NATO’s strategic objectives. The terrorism is global threat which knows of no borders or religion, being a challenge that calls common international community response, the gathering concludes.
