At Tuesday’s press-conference with part of VMRO-DPMNE’s MPs, the new leader of the party, Hristijan Mickoski, said his party had decided not to take part in the work of Parliament because 12% of its MPs were in detention and had been charged with terrorism in a fabricated manner. “To us, this represents political persecution. Until it stops, there will be no return to Parliament. The communication with the ruling majority exists over some of the most important matters, such as the parliamentary committees, but it is not frequent. I urge the government to decide whether the reforms or a confrontation with the non-like-minded people is priority of its,” he stated. Asked how VMRO-DPMNE would file an amnesty draft law without participating in the Parliament’s work, he said his party’s MPs would act once there were democratic conditions. Regarding the issue of regrouping from 10 parliamentary groups to one, Mickoski stated that all options were open.
