In an interview with Greek TV station Alpha, PM Zoran Zaev says that he and his Greek counterpart, Alexis Tsipras, share identical leader’s values. “I believe that it is possible for a resolution to the name issue to be found by the end of the first half of 2018,” he points out. In Zaev’s view the resolution should be acceptable to both Skopje and Athens. Despite underlining that such a resolution exists, he declines to reveal details so that, as he explains, he doesn’t ruin the negotiations process. Zaev adds he would like to meet also the leaders of Independent Greeks and New Democracy, Panos Kammenos and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, respectively, but only after meeting Tsipras. In Monday’s address at the Greek government’s session, Tsipras said there was a windof of opportunity for the dispute to be resolved if the change of the neighbour’s stand was honest. At the session, Greek FM Nikos Kotzias informed the ministers about the Greek positions in the name talks. Citing own information, media in Greece, including the state-run agency, said the position presented by the FM was a compound name with a geographical qualifier.According to Greek Interior Minister Panos Skourletis, conditions exist for the issue to be resolved with a mutually acceptable compound name.
