“Macedonia is creating a future and is not afraid of it,” PM Zoran Zaev said on Thursday, during the ceremony in Skopje to mark Independence Day, 8 September. As he added, the local elections are a key test. “A new democratic government will organise fair, democratic and regular elections for the first time in 11 years,” the PM noted. According to him, Macedonia once again has responsible politicians that know what the country’s citizens need. PS Talat Xhaferi, too, delivered an address on the same occasion. As he stressed, Macedonia has become an important factor of stability in the region and beyond. Independence Day was marked with several other activities in Skopje and throughout Macedonia. Congratulatory messages were sent by, among others, VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski, President Gjorge Ivanov and the VMRO-DPMNE MPs.
