Several fires in Macedonia are still active. Even though they have been localised, they are yet to be put out. Around 5,000 hectares of forest have already burned down in Makedonski Brod. It is estimated that the renewal of the forest fund will take 30-50 years. Macedonia is receiving help from Bulgaria, Turkey, as well as two planes from Israel. The high temperatures that should last by Sunday are preventing the fire-fighting units’ efforts. The fire surrounding the Treskavec monastery has been put out by fire-fighting teams and hundreds of volunteers. Two big fires are active in the Prilep region. Canadairs are expected from the Protection and Rescue Directorate. There are also wildfires near the villages of Bonce and Krusevica, in the Mariovo region.
